Can an Employee Still Get ESI Benefits After a Salary Increase Above 15,000 Rs?

MR.SEETARAMA MOGER
An employee contributed to ESI up to September 2011 in the contribution period. After his salary increased to higher than 15,000 Rs, can he still receive the benefits in February 2012?

Thanks.

Yes, he can get the benefit from ESI. The contribution periods and corresponding benefit periods are as follows:

- 1st April to 30th September corresponds to 1st January to 30th June of the year following.
- 1st October to 31st March corresponds to 1st July to 31st December of the calendar year.

Dear All,

My date of registration on the ESI card is mentioned as 6th Dec 2011, and the appointment date as 6th Nov 2011 (my original date of joining is 7th Sep 2011; I don't know why it says 6th Nov 2011).

I was admitted to a private hospital on 10th May 2012 as it was an emergency.

Questions Regarding ESI Benefits

I have two questions now:

1. Am I eligible to claim the expenses incurred in the private hospital as it was on an emergency basis?

2. Will I be paid the claim if there is a way to reimburse it? Because I will fall under the 1st Oct to 31st Mar contribution period for which the benefit period is only after July. But I was admitted on 10th May 2012.

Many thanks,

Regards,
Rahul Sharma
