Does Work Experience Start from Joining Date or Confirmation Date? Seeking Clarity!

chetanchinnu
I have been working in a manufacturing company since 25/08/2008 as a trainee, and I received confirmation on 01/01/2011 as an accounts assistant. My question is, does experience count from the date of joining or the date of confirmation? Please help me with this matter.

Your experience will count from the day you join, but for full and final settlement, your date of confirmation will be considered.

Your service in the company shall be reckoned from the date of joining upon confirmation for all purposes such as leave, P.F., and gratuity, etc.

Understanding Trainee and Confirmation Roles

As a Trainee, you are not responsible or accountable for any task you do. However, 'confirmation' of an appointment means you are responsible and accountable for the appointment you hold, and your experience starts from this date.

Your experience in the company starts from the day of your joining and not from the day of your confirmation.

Dear, it depends on what your offer/appointment letter says about the training period. But logically, it should count from the date of joining since you have been on the rolls of your firm from the day you stepped in there, and probably you got your salary or stipend from that date only. Many companies have rules stating that "after successful completion of the training period, you will be confirmed or regularized in a certain scale of pay," etc. Please go through your terms & conditions and your personnel policy.

For the purpose of an experience certificate, they will count your service from the Date of Joining as a Trainee. They will mention the same in your certificate, stating that you joined the service as a Trainee on [date] and were confirmed in service on [date] as [designation], like that...

Regarding Internal Promotions

They will treat the confirmation date as the date of joining.

As per my knowledge and experience, in the experience certificate, i.e., the relieving letter, the date of confirmation is considered as the date of joining. One of my colleagues working at AXA Business Services, which is an MNC, recently resigned from the job. It came to our attention that the date of confirmation is considered the date of joining.

You have to refer to your letter of appointment to see what it stipulates about the period of training and the release of salary or stipend. If nothing to this effect is stipulated therein, your experience will be counted effective from your date of joining.
