Study/ Research In Compensation And Benefits

Aine14
Hi! I would like to conduct research or a study on our company's Compensation and Benefits. Can you suggest a suitable title for the study related to this topic? Thank you very much! :)

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I just need some suggestions on research related to the Compensation and Benefits of the company since I believe that this is one topic that concerns most employees. I am thinking of a good research title related to the topic... One thing I thought of was: "Relationship between the employee's Compensation attitudes and organizational commitment." Is this a good topic? Or would you have other suggested topics? :)

The study which you have suggested, "Relationship between the employee's Compensation attitudes and organizational commitment," is not a part of mainstream compensation and benefits domain. It comes under the purview of RSI index, a psychometric test designed by Edgar Schein which focuses on 9 career anchors of an individual.

You can get access to the RSI test from Carlton Advanced Management Institute, USA, or Middle Earth Consultants in India.

Thanks a lot. I believe, though, that this will help me evaluate things in the company (specifically focusing on employees) in preparation for a Compensation and Benefits Analysis.

I am a certified Compensation & Benefits Manager. Let me explain once again. There are 9 career anchors or individual motives:

- Material rewards
- Power
- Search for meaning
- Expertise
- Creativity
- Affiliation
- Autonomy
- Security status

You have to run a test and then arrive at the career anchor or motives of an individual. Wealth is only one parameter out of the 9 parameters. How can you run a study on one single parameter and leave out 90% of the target population? That would be like running your research on Da Vinci or Einstein, for both of whom the particular parameter is at the bottom of the heap.

Wait, what I mean about Compensation Attitude is how employees perceive the pay they get from the company - whether they feel unsatisfied, they're getting just enough, or they are satisfied because of the high pay/salary. I wanted to find out whether their perceptions or attitudes (given the compensation they receive) influence their decision to stay in the company (Organizational Commitment).

Thank you so much! Can you suggest other topics instead?

This data, minus the employee perceptions, can be obtained from any of the annual compensation surveys like Hay/Mercer. If you want to validate, exit interview results will be good checkpoints.

You will need to elaborate on your exposure to the compensation and benefits domain - academic fundamentals/work exposure. Then I can help.

@ Svsrana,

Thanks for providing insight on the topic. I also noticed that you are a certified Comp and Ben professional. I am very interested in pursuing a certification course in Comp and Ben. Could you please assist me?

Thanks,
Kavitha
