Seeking Creative Ideas for Renaming and Adding Employee Allowances in HR

I work in HR in my company in the Maldives. My seniors have asked me to break current salaries into wages and allowances. I checked existing allowance names, and they are as below. Can anyone suggest any alternative names for these allowances or additional allowances I can suggest to them?

- Food allowance (this is OK)
- Accommodation Allowance (this is also OK)
- Tea Allowance - need a better suggestion
- Extra Allowance - need a better suggestion

Our company provides telephone and SIM cards for all staff, so we do not have a communication allowance. Traveling allowance is not required, as all travel-related expenses are provided on request or reimbursed to staff.

Hi Muna, for tea or snack allowance, you can change it to a refreshment allowance.

Quite often, a lot would also depend on the sector/domain your company is in. For example, the allowances used/practiced in the IT sector would be different from those used in, let's say, the realty sector. Please give some background info on your company. Jasmine Anil's suggestion for the Tea Allowance seems to be good.

Regarding the Extra Allowance

Please clarify the basic purpose of this allowance. That would give the members a better idea of what to suggest.

Regarding the Communication Allowance

You could maybe just call it plainly as Telephone Allowance as well—it depends on the general company preferences.

We have implemented a similar system in our company in the Maldives. Our allowances are as follows:

- Designation allowance
- Living allowance
- Medical allowance
- Daily allowance
- On-time allowance
- Food allowance
- Increment allowance
- Other allowance

I do not agree with the "other" allowance because it's not specific. Anything relating to staff should be specific. When you say 'other,' it's similar to saying 'unknown.' This is based on my experience in HR and Finance in the Maldives.
