Dear Sir,

This letter refers to the 2 months' salary arrears payable to our Junior Accountant, Mr. xxxxxx, who has been on deputation to my branch for the past 3 months. In the second month of the deputation, his salary was increased to Rs. 10,000 from Rs. 7,000. The two months' arrears amount to Rs. 6,000. Therefore, I kindly request you to approve the release of the arrears along with his salary for this month.

I hope you will take the necessary action on the above request.

Thank you for your reply. I have a doubt about how to separate the amount for basic, HRA, CEA, Conveyance, medical allowance, special allowance. Is there any percentage for that?

Hi,

In the attached sheet, everything is formulated. If you go to the shell, you will find the percentage.

Conveyance: Rs. 800 is fixed. Even if you pay more under the conveyance component, it will be calculated only for Rs. 800*12 months.

Medical: Rs. 1250/- is fixed. Even if you pay more under Medical reimbursement, it will be calculated only for Rs. 1250*12 months.

Your calculations are very useful. I have a small doubt. You mentioned that 10% tax is applicable for Advisors. Could you please clarify up to what amount this 10% tax is applicable and what the limit is?

Hi Murali,

Tax is applicable on gross salary. There will not be any statutory deductions except PT. Hence, Advisor's Gross will be Rs. 200 more than the net, and CTC will also be the same as gross as there are no employer contributions.

Hi Murali,

These are the tax slabs for the current financial year, i.e., April 2011 to March 2012:

- Up to ₹1,80,000: No tax
- ₹1,80,001 to ₹5,00,000: 10 percent
- ₹5,00,001 to ₹8,00,000: 20 percent
- Above ₹8,00,000: 30 percent
