Hi,
Good evening to everybody.
This is Prema from Chennai, newly joined in our group.
Can you plz help me out in calculating attrition rate on monthly, quarterly and annual basis with examples/formula. For eg. in a month if 100 people are joining and 25 are leaving us and the strength is 1000. How do you do the calculation.
Thanx & Regards,
Prema

Prema,
The simple way to calculate attrition rate is as follows:
[[
{FORMULA}
1. Opening Headcount : actual candidates exist in a month.
2. New Joinees : New staff recruited.
3. Actual HeadCount : (1+2) Opening Headcount+New Joinees
4. Attrition Headcount : No. of employees terminated+absconding+Resigned
5. Closing Headcount : (3-4) Actual Headcount-Attrition Headcount
6. Attrition % : (4/3*100) Attrition Headcount/Actual Headcount*100]
]]
{
Eg.
1. Existing employees in Jan. =47
2. New Joinees in Jan.=12
3. Actual Headcount = 47+12= 59
4. Attrition Headcount : 5
5. Closing Headcount: 59-5 =54
6. Attrition% : 5/59*100 = 8.47
Therefore, 8.47% is your required result.
Hope you understood it or ele revert if any doubts.
Regards,
Shelly.

Hi Prema,
formula to calculate attrition rate.
ATTRITION RATE
(no. Of attritions x 100) / (Actual Employees + New Joined)) /100.
Examples:
1) Actual Employees No. Of people left No. Of Joined Total Employees
(Opening BAL) (Attritions) (Current Headcount)
150 20 25 155
So according to the formula: ((20 x 100) / (150 + 25)) / 100
Which comes to 0.1142 i.e. 11%
Now as you had 150 previously and now 25 joined so it makes 150 + 25 =175
Now if you calculate 11.42% of 175 i.e. 175 x 0.1142 = 20
Which clearly shows that 175 – 20 = 155, which is your current headcount and at the same time you can say my attrition is 11.42% that shows you lost 20 employees of 150 and 25 more joined which makes count to 175.
now I hope it may be clear....

Rinky
