Should I Interview for an HR Generalist Role Despite My Limited Experience?

rimpiboparai@yahoo.com
Hello sir, I am Rupinder from Chandigarh, and I am working as an HR executive. I have received another job offer from a different company for an HR generalist position, but I lack knowledge about HR generalist duties such as payroll, appraisals, etc. I am familiar with recruitment and selection processes only. Should I go for this interview or not?

If you don't have the knowledge about being a generalist, it's better to attend the interview. At least you will gain exposure, and if it clicks, that's great. If not, you can continue with your present job.

Hi Rupinder, this is completely your call. With a new job comes new responsibilities. Discuss with the consultant to understand the roles and responsibilities better and think it through. If you are confident enough that you'll be able to take up the challenge, sail through the interview, and do justice to the job, then go for it.

Think wisely. Good luck!

Hi Rupinder, you should seize this opportunity with both hands. Whenever you are going for an interview, gather all the information from Cite HR itself about the profile, and then go for the interview. It will surely boost your confidence, and then you will succeed in the interview. Also, take a brief look at the company profile because HR generalist job roles differ from company to company.

Wishing you great success.

Thank you, sir, for the advice. Unfortunately, I missed the opportunity. However, in my current role, I am exposed to similar tasks which are helping me learn more. In the future, if I come across a similar job profile, I will definitely attend the interview. Your guidance on Cite HR has been invaluable to me, and I truly appreciate it. Thank you once again.

Rupinder

Great. You have taken the first step to get out of your comfort zone. First of all, go with a positive frame of mind. So what if you have no experience in certain facets of the HR field? You can always learn. It is not difficult to handle once you get over your initial hesitation. That's the way to go.

Good luck.

There is nothing that one cannot handle, so go for the interview with a positive attitude. Just remember one thing: the person who builds their own road never faces a roadblock. Try to come out of your comfort zone and grab the opportunity.

Wish you the very best of luck for the same.
