How Do You Track Upcoming Employee Appraisals Using Excel? Seeking Tips!

Samij
Hello fellow HR comrades, I am trying to build an Excel spreadsheet that forecasts an employee's next performance appraisal due date. I currently have a long list of employees, their start dates, and when their last appraisal was completed. However, there must be a better way to format it or generate a report from it so I can see which reviews I need to conduct this month.

If anyone has any suggestions that may assist, I would greatly appreciate the help.

Thank you kindly.

Let me ask you a few questions before getting into the suggestion mode. How big is the list, and what is the turnover ratio? How frequently do you do the assessment (Quarterly, Half, or Annual)?

If you have a longer list, then I would suggest you have a timeline for everybody. Maybe those who join post-Sep 30th may not be eligible for the annual assessment for that particular year. I think if you follow this, you may have to do the assessment for everyone at the end of the year, keeping in mind the month they joined. It is very easy for you to assess based on the vintage too.

If you have a very minimal number, then maybe you can have an Excel sheet prepared wherein you make the DOJ as a unique key and calculate their vintage, using the conditional format with colors for different stages.

Hope this is clear.
