How to Explain My Current Accommodation and HRA Situation When Job Hunting?

Here in my case, I am working in a Realty Co. For the short term, the company has provided me accommodation in Mumbai. However, in my salary slip, HRA is also mentioned. If I am applying for a new job, how should I request accommodation? The concern is that HRA is listed in my salary slip, and accommodation is also provided.

When I apply to another company for a new job, how can I prove that I am receiving accommodation from my previous employer? Kindly guide me on this matter.

You have two statements as highlighted above. Please explain. Second, are you receiving HRA in your salary, or did you just find it mentioned in your salary slip?

What I intended to say is whether an employer can provide accommodation to an employee from their end or can provide the HRA amount in his/her salary. If you found HRA mentioned in your salary slip but are also provided accommodation by them, it implies that you are not actually receiving the HRA amount, but as it's a part of your CTC, it will definitely be mentioned in your salary slip.

The question about proof of accommodation to your future employer, whether you are accommodated by your employer or not, you can ask for this from your present employer when leaving the organization. They can provide this in your relieving letter. Many employers include salary and other details in the relieving letter for their employees if they want.

A high performer does not need to worry about facilities; the employer offers the best when the employee has a proven track record. We should focus more on our own skills and competencies and achieve anything we desire based on these proven abilities. If this holds true for you, even a small-scale employer will provide you with significant accommodation; conversely, if it does not, the largest company may not offer even the most basic accommodation.

In general, paying HRA while providing accommodation is governed by corporate policy. For example, incentives are given for postings in remotely located projects, and in some cases, limited period accommodation is provided in a guest house while HRA is also paid. All of these are governed by corporate policy.

My suggestion would be for you to familiarize yourself with the corporate policy on such issues to understand the reasoning behind it.

Regarding CTC in future employment, present your demands the way you want; if you are deemed worthy, the company will find a way to accommodate you; otherwise, it may not.
