LEARNING: People's Alertness At The Gate Resulted In Avoiding Fatalities.

Dear All,

I would like to share some learnings from an incident which could lead to fatality. It was people's alertness at the gate resulted in avoiding fatalities.

Basic reasons are parking the vehicle with out applying parking brake. No wheel stopper positioned. Engine in running condn.

As our ABC plant general contours are with slope , vehicle moved slowly as vehicle was kept in running condn.

Therefore , we need to be extra vigilant always when ever and where ever you come across such observations and take care of the following.

1. Vehicle parked in running condn : ask for checking the functioning of self start. If not working , inform security and security shall not allow such vehicles.

2. Insist on using wheel stoppers when vehicle is in stop condn

3. Sitting / sleeping / taking rest near or underneath vehicles.

4. Parking in slopes not to be allowed.

Dear Team, I wrote ABC instead of the name of company as knowing name of company is not that important. Also find the attached photo of this incident.

Regards,

Inderjeet Singh "Born to lead."

Dear Inder,

You said exactly right!!! Just I sharing this incident its happened in Airport last week myself and my friend going to send off our friend when we reached the airport I feel hungry so I off from gate entrance near Ice cream parlor. Then I grab some ice cream and send off my friend as soon as we came back to parking area I was shocked my friend forget to apply PARK/HAND BREAK he stopped on slope result its hit on the another vehicle and we got 30,000 Fdj fine. Still he is blubbering regarding that incident. . .
It is the law we need to apply PARK/HAND BREAK while we park OSHA 1926.601(b)
Good wakeup call Mr.Inder let me share with my colleagues. . .
