Dear HRK,
LPG id connected in a manifold does not need a license.
The shed in which the manifold is kept should have LPG leak detector, should be well ventilated, should have Fire Hydrant Line with monitor and Water Sprinklers.
The cylinders should be connected all the time to manifold.
Please check cylinder expiry months.

Dear Sir
Can you let me know what the section of act/rules we should follow for such kind of manifold where all the fire protection requirements also mentioned...
Thanks for your inputs and looking forward to hear from you...

Dear Dipil,
It is basically National Building code and the Fire Act
In Maharashtra, the Industries need permissions of constructions even for a temperory (Monsoon) shed from MIDC. (Maharashtra Industries Development Corporation)
Once the company applies the MIDC for construction commencemnt certificate, we have to take NOC from MIDC Fire Department.
They issue Provisional NOC, in which they specify the fire protection systems but these are based on the provisions given in National Building Code.
If you want copy of fire Act pl let me know I shall send on your personal id
Regards,
Sudhir

Dear Dipil,
The Maharashtra Fire Prevention and Life Safety Measures Act 2006 is uploaded for your information.
It could get uploaded.
Most of the provisions are same as National Building code.
regards,
Sudhir

I remember seeing an amendment to the cylinder rules that said cylinders connected to the manifold are considered storage and therefore will need license. I do not have the copy of the notification with me unfortunately. Earlier the rule was that cylinders not connoted is counted for license requirement

Dear All,
The license to posses the LPG cylinders is covered under gas cylinder rules. Under this rule one have up to
100 kgs with out any license. There is no provision that cylinders connected in manifold does not need any license. NO Licenses for cylinders connected to mainfold is mentioned only in OSID guidelines which can not be treated as legal requirements.
for information please.

Dear Mr HRK
Refer LPG Industrial/Commercial Installation ISI code of Practice BS 6044 part 1.
The installed capacity of a LPG Manifold Installation should not cross 1000kg of LPG. If it is crossing split it. Means have two chambers of LPG Manifolds separately, comprising following quantity of cylinders in one manifold. The two rooms should be separated by brick wall.
1) 19 kg capacity cylinders = 52 cylinders on one manifold (room)
2) 35 kg capacity cylinders = 28 cylinders in one room
3) And if 47.5 kg capacity cyls = 21 cylinders in one room.
No loose cylinders should be kept. All the cylinders should be connected. etc etc etc... refer 6044 part 1 & 2
If it is going to cross 1000kg "Explosive License" is required alongwith local approvals.
For this reason you reduce the manifold size by having LoT (Liquid Off-Take) Manifolds with LP Gas Vaporiser.
Any info help post your email. Thanks n Regards.

I also checked yesterday
Term used in cylinder rules 2004 is possession, not storage
Nothing in the rules exempts manifold.
You will need the license if number of cylinders crosses the limits.
For LPG, limit is 100kg of gas
