Feeling Stuck Between Marketing and HR: Should I Stay or Move On? Seeking Advice

Hello seniors, I want some suggestions. Actually, I am currently working in a company as a counselor, but I aspire to build my career in an HR profile. My problem is that I interviewed for a counselor position in my company, but based on my qualifications, they offered me the position of HR executive in the appointment letter. Now, they are assigning me fieldwork for marketing their product. They expect me to engage in marketing activities and then counsel the walk-ins. I am hesitant to leave the job as my conscience does not allow me to do so, especially after completing the training and formalities. The company has acquired a franchise of a product, and I was selected for this role without anyone else in the team of that franchisee. However, I cannot envision any growth opportunities in this company aligning with my interest in the HR profile.

Please help, seniors. I genuinely need your suggestions.

In very simple words, you must look for another good option that will fulfill your needs and align with your career goals. It is truly appreciated that you are concerned about your employer, but do not forget that you must establish yourself in the world based on your interests, educational background, or what you aspire to do without wasting time.

In your query, you have not mentioned your qualifications. However, if I am not mistaken, it appears that you are also from HR, and because of this, you want to pursue a career in HR, correct?

Consider changing your job!

Thank you, Mr. Anil, for your suggestion. It will really help me make the right decision. For your information, I completed my MBA in HR in 2010. Due to some reasons, I had to join this current role, but I do not wish to pursue a career in marketing.

Employers may offer you the most appealing things in your job that may tempt you with the offer, rather than getting confused about whether to stick to your current interests or try something different and learn from it. But take this from me - please do what you are interested in. If you accept whatever offer is given to you, you may end up in the same state of confusion after a couple of months.

Career Decision After Completing MBA

You have completed your MBA - if counseling is a job you are happy with, it is one of the best HR roles that not everyone can easily obtain, and it is a unique position. If you find your job uninteresting, you will never find any job interesting. Decide which path you want to take and stick to it.
