Navigating Annual Returns Under the Shops and Establishment Act: What Do I Need to Know?

Kindly guide me about the annual return under the Shops and Establishment Act and the due date for submission of the same. Meanwhile, I registered our company under this act last year. Please tell me if there are any other forms I need to file in 2012.

Returns under Shops Act

The Shops and Establishments Act is a state Act, and thus the formats of the statutory returns may vary slightly from state to state. Therefore, it is more appropriate for you to refer to the Shops Act of your state.

However, as per the Bombay Shops and Establishments Act 1948, the important registers to be maintained are as follows:

1. Register of Employment as per Format H or J
2. Register of Leave in Form M
3. Leave Book in Form N
4. Visit Book
5. Register of Overtime

Thank you for your kind update. We have registered our company under the Tamil Nadu Shops and Establishment Act. I would like to know if there is any requirement for an annual or half-yearly return to be submitted under this act. If so, what is the due date for the submission? Additionally, is it necessary to provide a copy of Form V to the Inspector of Labour every year before displaying it in the office premises?
