Clarification on Basic Salary and PF Deductions
Dear Seniors, can you please clarify my doubt? If an employee's salary is ₹5900/-, and the salary is split like 40% or 50% basic, i.e., ₹2360/- or ₹2950/-. However, according to PF rules, the minimum wage should be the basic wage. In Andhra Pradesh, the basic wage is around ₹5800. What should I do? Please clarify my doubt.
Regards, Srinivas Jami
Dear Srinivas,
Greetings for the day, it is true that the basic salary should not be less than the minimum wage of the state, on which deduction of EPF should be done. In your case, the PF should be deducted on ₹5900/- instead of ₹2950 or ₹2360/-.
Thanks & regards,
