We are going to launch a ship in the coming days. The launching will be a side launching, which we are doing for the first time. As a safety person, what are the specific precautions I should suggest, and what will be my role on the launching day? I have to give a plan to the management. Kindly help me with this. How do I handle channel traffic control? Does it fall under safety?

Safety is not related to one subject. As you are inquiring about ship safety on this HR site, safety officers or professionals, most of whom work in the manufacturing/process industries, may not have specific expertise in this area. My suggestion is to refer to books on Marine Safety Engineering and also shipping and logistics books for traffic control of ships.
