ESIC Half-Yearly Return: Do We Still Need to Submit It by Hand After April 11?

hrrakesh10
Dear all, from April 11, all the monthly challans will be generated online. Therefore, is it compulsory to submit the ESIC half-yearly return by hand or not?

There are no strict guidelines for it yet, as far as I am concerned. Even though we have submitted a hard copy of the RC, we are still remitting our monthly dues online. In my view, you should consult your local ESIC branch.

Presently, in some places, the ESI RC is required, but some ESI branch offices are stating that it's not required because monthly contributions are done online. I have concerns regarding this issue near the ESI branch office.

You can log in to the http://www.esic.in and will get all the information regarding it.

It is not necessary to submit the half-yearly return to ESIC because we are updating our data on a monthly basis, and the same is replicated on the ESIC server. In other words, we are completely updated by fractions of minutes on the ESIC server.

Recently, we had an ESI audit in our company in Ahmedabad. The ESIC auditor has informed us that after filing ESI online, there is no need for half-yearly returns. This information may be helpful to you.

Until the concerned regulation changes, you cannot conclude the cancellation of the submission of Half Yearly Returns. After the computerization of ESIC, the following suggestions I can give:

1. As of now, the submission of RC at Branch Offices is not required, but you should ensure the submission of Self-certification online by using the "SELF CERTIFICATION" link on the ESIC employer's homepage.

2. Most employers are ignoring the main provision of the submission of Annual Returns, i.e., Form-01(A), which is supposed to be submitted every year by 31st January. Failing to do so can lead to prosecution action, so it's better to submit the Annual return using the link "ANNUAL INFORMATION RETURN" available on the ESIC employer's homepage.

All the best.

Rakesh
