Background Verification in IT: Do Employers Check Your Entire Career History or Just Your Current Job?

cgnanij
Hi, can anyone clarify the general practice across the IT industry on Background Verification (BV) for an employee? Is it done from the start of their career or just the current company they are working with?

Background Verification in the IT Industry

For example, if a manager has about 15 years of experience and has worked in about five different companies during that time, the question arises: will the background check be done from the inception of their career or just the current organization they are working with?

Please clarify.

Assessing Background Verification in the IT Industry

First, observe his conversation. The background check should be done with the current organization only. Find out in what cadre he was initially hired and what position he currently holds. You should assess his skills based on this information.

Thank you.

Background Verification (BGV) Process for Employees

Background verification (BGV) for employees can be conducted in the following manner:

1. Firstly, as per company requirements, if it is a financial process, then all the employments that the individual has worked for must be checked.
2. Based on any other specific requirements or as per the client's request.
3. Otherwise, in general:

BGV for any employee includes verification of their highest degree, present and permanent addresses, and the dates of joining (DOJ) and leaving (DOL) for the last three employers.

These verifications can be carried out by third-party vendors specializing in background checks.
