National Holiday Pay Dilemma: Should You Pay If Employees Miss Days Around It?

naziyasm@gmail.com
If a national holiday falls on a Sunday, we normally pay for that day. However, in the case where the employee is absent on both the days before and after the national holiday (Saturday and Monday), should I still pay the employee for the national holiday or not?

They should present either before or after, if not both (the day before and after). If any one day isn't presented, it's not needed.

If the employee is absent on both days (i.e., on Saturday and Monday), then there is no need to pay for the holiday. However, if the employee is present on either Saturday or Monday, the holiday must be paid.

If the employee is absent on both the days, i.e., after and before Sunday, even if Sunday is a National Holiday, no payment is to be made, and the National Holiday/Sunday is to be covered under absenteeism.
