Sharing My Journey and Insights on Industrial Relations: How Can We Learn Together?

Hi Members,

I am an ex-Management Trainee (Personnel) of M/s Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. I joined HAL in Aug. 1978 at Bangalore. Since 1983, I have been with NTPC and am presently working as a Sr. Manager (HR). Acquiring new and better knowledge has always been my passion. I am continuing my job along with being a visiting faculty in the field of HR within my organizations. I have always felt intensely happy after my sessions. I have found this HR professionals community on CiteHR to be another source of enlightenment and happiness. This is yet another addition to my source of learning and sharing whatever little I have learnt so far.

I posted a PPT on "DOMESTIC ENQUIRY" which I delivered to Ex. Trainees at NTPC Dadri (U.P.) in Feb. '07. It is an extensive subject, and I am sure it cannot be covered through just one PPT. However, for beginners like Engineering trainees, I provided them with a few tips through this PPT. Motivated by the interaction from CiteHR members, I am now sharing another PPT on "INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS" with all the members. I hope this will be educative for all.

Thank you for the appreciation. This has motivated me further to keep up more and more. I am just one year old in NTPC Foundation. Before that, I was in the mainstream of HR at NTPC. I will share at an appropriate time what NTPC Foundation is all about. I am gaining a unique experience here. This would motivate other CireHR members to indulge in charity services apart from their main job. "We must give back to society what the society has given to us." That is the philosophy on which Foundations are based. :)

I am so happy to receive the PPT on industrial relations. Your description of your jobs and experiences has compelled me to seek help from you, and I am sure that you would really help me out. Sir, I have to prepare a PPT on compensation management in which I want to know which topics are included and how it is affected by strategies or employers. I have to prepare a PPT where I have to show a comparison between compensation management of two companies in the same field. Can you please help me out? I would really be thankful to you.

NTPC is one of the best PSUs and also among others. They have a strong HR department. My interaction with NTPC HR was at last year's NTPC Electron quiz (2006) at Mumbai regional office. I also had the opportunity to participate in the National-level semifinals at Noida. At Noida, NTPC has its pristine training campus, which was buzzing with the misty winds of December and all the engineering and management trainees. My stay at NTPC's Noida campus was a great experience. Mr. Lal's post brought back those memories and made my day!

Respected Sir,

There are no words to describe your commitment to the HR field and your tendency to guide future professionals. I am going to attend the ET (HR) exam of NTPC, and I would like some guidance from you, sir. I have one doubt: which acts cover the unorganized sector employees? In PSUs, are they following the traditional way of HR or the modern way, such as Competency mapping, Skill matrices, 360 PA...?

I am a student of MBA final semester (from IGNOU) and I need a signature on my project proposal to choose a topic for my project work under any degree holder in HR.
