Seeking Advice: What Higher Studies Options Should My Friend Consider After 8 Years in School Admin?

bharathi1990
Hi Seniors, I want a good suggestion for my friend. She has completed her B.Com and MHRM. She is working as a computerized Accountant and Admin in a school for more than 8 years. Now she wants to pursue her higher studies but she doesn't have any idea about her higher studies. Kindly give your valuable suggestion. I hope she will get a nice idea from this forum.

Thank you, Suganya, for your response. She cannot pursue her higher studies full-time. She would like to do it through correspondence, such as an MBA. Please provide your opinion.

Recommendation for Further Studies

An MBA in Finance with an HR specialization would be a good choice. She can pursue it through correspondence.

Which field of work is she interested in? An admin experience should help her move into an HR role once she completes her MBA. Managing admin and accounts makes one well-suited to be trained in HR operations. She would gain a broader perspective on how these processes are intertwined, with crucial information from that area.

She may even consider pursuing an MBA in finance and transitioning into a hardcore finance role. This could even involve marketing if she joins a bank. Finance roles primarily involve managing operations in BPOs or KPOs. If she joins a finance KPO, the focus may shift from managing capital markets to insurance.

If she has the option to consider, a fellowship would be an upgrade. She can apply for one in AHRD or another university that offers a part-time program. This path would require higher dedication but would be worth the effort.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for your valid opinion. She has already completed her Master of HRM, which is equivalent to an MBA in HR. Can you suggest any other post-degree programs besides an MBA that would help her advance her career within her current organization?

What I feel is she can either dedicate herself to Finance or HR, depending on her area of interest. She can pursue correspondence courses like an MBA in Finance, a PG Diploma in Finance, CA, ICWA, etc., in finance. In HR, she can focus on areas such as Diploma in Training and Development, Diploma in Recruitment and Selection, Compensation Management, and similar fields.

The above are a few of the courses I mentioned. There are numerous specializations in each. To learn more about this, she can explore university correspondence course offerings. Some options include IGNOU, Symbiosis, etc. She can also visit university websites to gather more information.

By specializing in any of these areas, she can become an expert and find enjoyment in her job.

Thanks and Regards

This is a question you are posting on behalf of your friend!

Your friend has a BCom and MHRM and 8 years of experience! After acquiring so much education and experience, your friend is not sure what to do next? Which field to pursue for higher studies?

Dear Bharathi, please don't be mad at me! Instead of looking for reasons here and there, and from other professionals, she must look into her strengths and interests!

Read the advice here, Finance, HR, this, that! This advice is wonderful, but would it apply to her? What does she want?

I don't wish to dig too deep into the human psyche, but your friend is afraid of making her decisions! Does she need some external justification to decide her future?

And what's with the chase for academic courses and certifications to enhance a career? She is fairly educated, BCom + MHRM. Has she done justice to this investment? And now wants to pledge more resources (time, effort, and money) into chasing another higher studies (which she is not even sure about)?

If she wants to catapult her career prospects, she may pay better attention to skill-building!

Communication Skills
- Writing, presentation, public speaking

Career-Specific Skills

Computer Skills

Wish her luck and strength!
