Navigating ESI Half-Yearly Returns: Online or Manual Submission and Which Form to Use?

What is the process for submitting ESI half-yearly returns? Is it done online or manually, and which form (Form 5 or Form 6) should be used for ESI half-yearly returns?

Both Form-5 & 6 require sending to the ESI authority with CA certification on Form-5. Form-5 is the summary of paid challans for six months, and Form-6 details the employee contributions during the six months (e.g., total working days, total wage, and total contribution paid against the employee).

It has been noted from the internet that the ESI return for the period ending 30.09.2011 is not required to be submitted due to electronic compliance, as per the instructions of the department (posted on the internet by Bharadwaj Consultants). However, on the ESI website, there is no information regarding this matter. Does anyone have more details about it?
