Dear Jay, Sorry to mention, but this photo could be fake because of the following reasons:

1) If you examine the photos properly, you would easily notice various zones being lit up in a single color, either red, green, or blue. Geographically, one zone almost represents one state. Therefore, it is not possible for a whole district, city, or state to have the same color lighting arrangement throughout. Even if we assume it is so, TV news channels would have been reporting on the event of Diwali, and as you know, there was no such activity.

2) By mistake or intentionally, they have shown Sri Lanka but not Kashmir. The USA and almost all Christian countries accept Kashmir as a territory of India. So, there is a very rare chance of a silly mistake. Even if America does not accept Kashmir as an Indian territory, they would never show Sri Lanka in Indian territory. This actually seems to be the mistake of one person who edited and created this photo.

3) If you look at the photograph, it seems like the map of India is being uploaded on the pagemaker or any similar software, where various zones were selected, and colors were filled. This map represents less Diwali and more HOLI. Even if you expand the photos, you can see Kashmir hiding in the background with no color. If this were a real photo, then either the whole Kashmir would have been deleted from the photo by NASA, or it has been made invisible. You can identify both cases.

I hope you will not mind my observation.

Regards, Rahul Vijay
