Confused About My Salary Details: What Should I Ask HR to Clarify My Benefits?

bhoware.ashish
I am working as a Marketing Executive. I have not received the offer letter. I get a salary slip in which it shows 15k as basic. Nothing else is mentioned except Professional Tax is deducted, i.e., 200. No PF, no TA, DA.

They have not discussed any incentive scheme. I want to know what the essentials are for PF and various others that I should discuss so that I do not have any problems in the future.

Thanks, please help me.

PF and ESI Deductions

PF needs to be deducted from your salary, and you will not come under ESI.

TA, DA, and Incentives

Regarding TA, DA, and incentives, they are as per the company policy.

PF and ESIC Eligibility

The PF limit is ₹6,500 for Basic, but since your salary is above ₹6,500, you are not eligible for PF.

Secondly, for ESIC, the limit is a gross salary of ₹15,000. Since your salary is above ₹15,000 gross, ESI is not applicable.

Any remaining allowances depend on the company's policy.

According to the salary slip given by the company, all the 15k is basic, and professional tax is 200. Nothing else has been mentioned. Nothing has been discussed about my incentives. As my company is small, there is no HR, so no one has discussed the salary structure. The salary slip provided is too short to understand.

If your company pays you an incentive, you can ask them to mention it in your salary slip. Otherwise, there is no need to mention it.

It is advisable to ask politely and confirm with the management about the salary structure.

1. You may first want to find out who in your office is designated to answer such queries. If there is no HR, probably there is a finance executive who handles all pay-related work for employees. Finding out the right authority to understand the details is relevant.

2. If you have concerns about upgrading or receiving better incentives, again, you should find out the relevant authority. The finance personnel only execute the job and may not make such decisions.

Hope you find the required solution. I have always found it useful to structure sentences in a question format when discussing such topics.

As per your negotiation of salary, they might have told you 15k, so the company is paying 15k to you after deducting Professional Tax. We do not know whether ESI and PF are applicable in your company. Because the ESI limit is 15k, it should be deducted from your salary, and the PF limit is Basic up to 6500, so it is not required to be deducted.
