How Can I List Past Jobs on My Resume Without Experience Certificates? Seeking Advice!

Dear all, I worked as a merchandiser at Nestlé Distributor's office in Chennai for one year during 2001-2002 after finishing my Xth standard. Unfortunately, I did not receive an experience certificate from them. Additionally, I worked as a performance coach at Britannia, Chennai for five months during my MBA program's project period in 2009. The company's HR department informed me that an experience certificate could only be provided after completing one year of service. As of now, I only have the appointment letter. I am unable to obtain an experience certificate from both companies as the Distributor's office has changed hands, and Britannia requires one year of service for the certificate.

Including Work Experience Without Certificates

My question is whether I can include the above work experiences in my profile. Will other MNCs accept them without supporting documents? What steps should I take to include this work experience on my resume? I would appreciate valuable suggestions and guidance on this matter.

When you are working with a distributor, you can request an experience certificate from the distributor. You must have some proof of employment like an appointment or an offer letter, which you may also show.

In your work during the M.B.A project, it will be considered as project work. Therefore, you will receive an internship certificate, which will demonstrate that you have worked with them and completed the project.

An experience letter is typically provided by a company to its permanent employees or salaried staff. Students who work with the company for an internship are not considered permanent employees and do not receive a salary; instead, they receive a stipend. Thus, in this case, you will receive a training certificate from them, which you can definitely include on your resume.

Hi Meetu Singh, here is my problem: the distributorship of Nestle has been handed over to another person, so I am not able to obtain an experience certificate from them. At Britannia, I worked as an employee and enjoyed all the benefits, such as allowances, incentives, ESI, PF, etc. Is it appropriate to ask for an internship certificate? Please suggest to me as I am in a difficult situation. I am unsure whether to include this experience in my resume or not, sir.

If you were salaried as you stated at Britannia, you are entitled to receive a relieving letter and an experience letter. I don't think any company follows such policies where a person would not receive a relieving letter if they work for less than 12 months. It would be helpful to seek the views of some seniors on this matter.

In my opinion, you should request your experience letter.
