Confused About ESI Returns: Do We Need to Submit Half-Yearly at the Office Too?

itzarsh
Hello, we submit all details of ESI through the online portal and also deposit cheques in the bank. Is there a need to deposit the ESI half-yearly return at the ESI office as well? Please reply soon because when any employee from our organization visits ESI, they say that our company has paid the ESI return. However, we deposit a cheque to SBI bank every month and have the receipt of the challan as well.

Dear itzarsh, Nowadays, we download the challans by updating the data on the ESIC website. The website automatically updates the R.C (ESIC Returns Contribution). Therefore, we can simply download the R.C by clicking on the "View R.C" option, which will be available on the right side bottom of the main page of ESIC. Once you download the R.C, fill in the necessary details in the required areas and submit it to ESIC if possible. Most likely, nowadays ESIC may not ask for the R.C because they can know it automatically.

I have submitted the manual challan from April 2010 to September 2010. However, we have not submitted it from October onward. The ESIC officer told me to submit the return manually. We have been using ESIC online since February 2011. Could you please advise me on what I should do now?

Thank you for your assistance.

Dear itzarsh, now you have one option left. You should upload all the data from Oct '10 - Feb '11. Once you upload all the data, you have to take the printout of all the challans. The period from April 2010 to September 2010 is completely manual for all, but the online system started from October '10 onwards.

Now let me clarify for which period you wanted to submit the Returns to the ESIC office.

Regards,
Vinay Kumar.

I want to submit the challan from October 2010 to March 2011. When the ESI went online, our company considered that there was no need for a six-month manual challan.

Thank you

Anyway, you should upload all the data from Oct '10 - Feb '11 on the ESIC website. Once you upload all the data, you have to take a printout of all the challans. Submit the original challans for the months where you have done it manually and submit the challans for the months where you have done it through uploading on the website.

Prepare three sets where two sets will be used for their office purposes and one set will be returned to us. They will accept it and put a "late submission" endorsement on one of the copies which may be returned to you.

Now I hope it's clear for you.

Regards,
Vinay Kumar.
