Neha/Arpita,
I have already described the whole procedure in this posting itself.
Dip in Trg & Dev is a really useful program for professionals. Not only for the people in HR but also for other fields.
Arpita, As far as papers are concerned, only books won't help you much. You are right that people who do correspondence programs study 2 days before the examinations. The reason behind the same is the job and tight working hours.
I would not say that you have to study like a student, but yeah, it would be better if you go through all the books once. Just look at the topics included in it. You can refer to other books or surf the net on those topics. The only thing is that you should know what the subject contains because subjects are quite similar and one single topic is given in great detail. You don't need to memorize anything, but as these are recent fundamentals and ISTD material is a mixture of all good books, there is no need to refer to some author's book. You can go through some HR magazines, HR practices in different industries, etc.
In a nutshell, just assume yourself as an HR manager/trainer and then answer the question so that your answer would be richer. They really don't expect you to give much more stress on the theory part, but yes, definitions by some authors, or some formulas and all. These are all you have to read, then only you would be able to give justification.
Neha/Arpita, the greater advantage you people have is you are residents of Delhi. That makes a lot of difference. ISTD organized a lot of seminars in Delhi. I am from Gujarat, so cannot take advantage of the same.
Neha, you can enroll in the same simultaneously with your MBA. It has a good scope. It would add some spice to your academic profile as well.
They say that degrees/diplomas are not important, but if one has a good academic background, they would definitely benefit. There is nothing wrong with learning and adding degrees/certificates/diplomas to your CV.
All the best and for any queries, get back to us. There are some senior members also on this forum who have passed out ISTD years ago. They would also guide you.
Keep learning.
Regards,
Chaitali.
