Considering an MA in Psychology as an HR Generalist: Which Path and Where in Mumbai?

Dear Seniors, I want to do an MA in psychology. I have completed my graduation in commerce, but now I am interested in psychology. Being an HR Generalist, how beneficial would that be, and which field would be the best: industrial, organizational, or human psychology in the context of my career prospects?

Additionally, in Mumbai, where can I pursue this course through correspondence as I am currently working and unable to commit to full-time studies? I am looking for a reputable college in Mumbai.

Furthermore, I am considering pursuing a Ph.D. in psychology after completing my MA. Please provide suggestions.

Hi Sonal, I think most universities do not offer an MA in Psychology as an external course; one has to do it through college. In terms of specialization, if you plan to continue in HR, then Organizational or Human Psychology may be more beneficial. Again, I feel you need to be clear on how you want to grow professionally while attaining educational milestones. Hope this helps.

I have cleared the 1st semester, and there are 3 more semesters left, which will be completed by January 2013. Considering a Part-Time Degree in Psychology for HR Ops

A part-time degree in any of the mentioned streams of Psychology can add value to HR Operations, but it depends significantly on your current work profile (Roles & Responsibilities). No doubt, a postgraduate qualification in Psychology is a creative addition to the professional practice of HR Operations. However, the areas where it may be extendable for a value-add process are limited.

If I may request, kindly make an action plan (like a blueprint) after reviewing the different course contents of each stream. Significantly brainstorm how you wish to absorb the knowledge base and contribute to your present work.
