Mid-Level Manager Dilemma: How Would You Handle a Breach of Contract Request?

akira82
Richard is a mid-level manager responsible for supervising contracts in his city. Belly is an effective politician attempting to urge the city to build a community park. She made a contract with an ABC construction company. In their contract, the city has to pay ABC Company in three installments, appropriate based on the progress of building the park. ABC received the first payment, but they did not fulfill their obligations or meet the terms of the contract. Now, they are requesting the second payment.

One morning, Belly called Richard to request the second payment for ABC Company, but Richard refused her request. He stated that ABC had not met the terms of the contract. Belly was very angry.

If you were Richard, what would you have done in this situation?

If Belly uses political power, there are two scenarios:

- I will not support if my intention is to build a good park that lasts for a long time.
- I will support Belly if making a good park is not my choice.

If Belly doesn't use her power, then my problem is already solved.
