I have received an appointment in a Mumbai-based industry, so I have shifted my home from Tirupati to here. In this case, can I avail any allowances towards shifting?
I don't think you will be eligible for any shifting allowance as the company has assigned you a posting in Mumbai. However, you can claim your travel expenses (once). You should reach out to your Mumbai-based company's HR for further clarification.
In our company, we provide relocation allowances depending on grade. You can consult your HR to inquire whether your company offers such benefits. Travel expenses are different; you can only claim the fares and hotel accommodation. Relocation allowance covers the cost of shifting your entire belongings, such as baggage, and it is paid by the company.
