ESIC Password Policy

"Password complexity: A password should be a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 16 characters. A password should be alphanumeric, consisting of at least one alphabet and one numeric character.

"Password Age: 45 days. After 45 days, passwords will expire automatically, and the user needs to change his/her password.

"Grace Login after password expiry: 1 day. After 45 days, the user is allowed to log into the system to change the password for one more day. After the grace period, the user account is locked out. To unlock, either use the Forgot Password option or contact the help desk.

"Lockout policy: If the user enters the wrong password 5 times continuously, it will block automatically and unlock automatically after 24 hours (lock duration = 24 hours, lock attempts = 5). Please remember that one successful login after fewer than 5 wrong tries will automatically reset the wrong try counter.

"No of passwords in history = 3. The new password chosen should not be similar to any of the previous 3 passwords available in the history.

Procedure to Unlock a Locked Account

"Use the Forgot Password link on the Portal Login page to reset the password. The system will unlock the account and send a new auto-generated password to the registered employer's email address existing in the portal.

"If the email address is not existing in the system, then contact the help desk at [Email Removed For Privacy Reasons] to unlock the user account.

Hello Niyaj Ahmed,

Let's go over the ESIC password policy and the procedure for unlocking a locked account:

1. Password Complexity: Your password should be a minimum of 8 characters and a maximum of 16 characters. It must be alphanumeric, meaning it should include at least one letter and one number.

2. Password Age: Passwords will expire every 45 days. After this period, you'll need to change your password.

3. Grace Login: If your password expires, you have a grace period of one day to log in and change your password. If you don't change it within this period, your account will be locked.

4. Lockout policy: If you enter your password incorrectly 5 times in a row, your account will be locked. It will automatically unlock after 24 hours. One successful login will reset the incorrect attempt counter.

5. Password History: You cannot use your last three passwords when choosing a new one.

Now, let's discuss the procedure to unlock a locked account:

1. Click on the 'Forgot Password' link on the portal login page. This will trigger an automatic reset of your password and unlock your account.

2. An auto-generated password will be sent to the email address you have registered with ESIC.

3. If your registered email is not in the system, contact the help desk at ITCare@esic.in to unlock your account.

Remember, password security is crucial for protecting your account and personal information. Make sure to update your password regularly and use a combination of letters and numbers to enhance security.

Hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
