Preparing for an ESI Inspection: What Documents Should I Have Ready?

Dear all,

Our company got registered under ESI in Aug '10, and a few days ago, an ESI personnel came for an inspection notification. I would like to know from all of you, when he visits next time, which is after 15 days, what documents (other than ESI challan) should I prepare beforehand?

Documents Required for ESIC Inspection

For ESIC inspection, you need to have the following documents ready:

1. All paysheets from August 2010
2. Balance Sheet of FY 2010-11
3. ESIC half-yearly returns
4. EC & RC Statement
5. Company registration copy (Factory Licence or Shop Act licence, whichever is applicable)
6. If the company started before August 2010, all balance sheets from the last five years
7. Any other documents instructed by the ESIC officer
8. List of contractors with their compliance

Dear Vikram, don't panic, as they generally require the following documents:

1. Wage register for each month
2. Muster roll
3. Return
4. Monthly contribution
5. IP number for covered employees

For any additional document requirements, please ask for a specific time period to submit the same.
