Accident Free Man Days Calculation - Zip Download

srinivasarao manikyala
Dear Dipil,
7 is days for a week. If we devide no. of month days by no. of week days then we get the no. of weeks for a month.
and then 5 is the standard working days for week (i.e. 40hrs for a week).

Dear Dipil,
As I informed you, we are following OSHA stds & calculating accordingly.
Dear Mr. Rao,
I also had the same question that Dipil asked.
Still unclear on your explanation. For this why can't we follow this structure - No. of working days * No. of working hrs. directly. What is the reason behind this calculation, as it is confusing to me.
dipil
Dear KVS
I am also not yet cleared about the explanation what SRM gives...
But what you have asked, I think it will give the man hours, not the man days...
@ SRM
Please help me in clearing the specific problem.
What will be the Accident Free Man Days for the Month of July 2011.
Total Manpower = 500
No accident occured in the month.
Total Days in Month = 31
Days Worked = 26
Hours working for the Day = 8 Hours
Accident Free Man Days for the Month of July 2011 = 500*26 = 13000. This is the answer or not?
Please clear my doubt.

Dear Dipil and KVS,
If no accident occured in the month of July your calculation is right.
If you consider 5 working days a week you have to consider 21 insted of 26.
and For appropriate outcome collecting actual data from HR is also right method.
In case any accident occured during this month suppose on 16th of july the no. of working days may be 12 or 13.

Dear dipil
I think your querry is well met by Mr. S Mani, what he has explained to your querry by commuting mandays for one month only. Man days worked are different to calendar days. Mandays worked in an organisation are total work days performed(excluding the rest days) i.e. calendar days * workdays per week *manpower
Calendar days in July=31, calendar days a week =7, workdays a week=5
31 *(5/7) = 22.14 days or say 22 worked in July. Say, if man power =500
Total mandays for July = 22 *500 =11071 mandays and further if you multiply with 8hrs a day gives you Manhours.
As earlier cited, your accident free mandays from Jan to July are lost if a fatal/reportable accident happens on 31st July and accedent free period starts from 1st August onwards.
Hope, I could explain it rightly to you.
