How Do You Accurately Calculate Provident Fund Contributions for Employees?

bhagat.bbsr
Steps to Calculate Provident Fund (PF)

1. Determine the employee's basic salary: This is the primary component used to calculate the PF contribution.

2. Check the PF contribution rate: Both the employee and employer contribute a certain percentage of the basic salary towards the PF fund. The current PF contribution rate is 12% of the basic salary each for the employee and the employer.

3. Calculate the PF contribution amount: Multiply the basic salary by the PF contribution rate (12% or as per the applicable rate) to determine the monthly PF contribution for both the employee and the employer.

4. Deduct the PF amount from the employee's salary: Subtract the employee's share of the PF contribution from their monthly salary to arrive at the net pay.

By following these steps, you can accurately calculate the PF for an employee.

The Provident Fund (PF) is 12% of Basic + DA, and the same amount is contributed by the employer.
