Choosing the Best Foreign Language to Learn in Chennai: Hobby or Career Opportunities?

mssus54
Hello, can anybody advise me on which is the best foreign language to learn, either for a hobby or in case an opportunity arises for an interpreter or translator job? I am based in Chennai. From what I found out through the internet, French is considered the best language. Can anybody help me? Also, I want to know if I can learn the same from someone who is already an expert in the language.

You are correct that French is one of the best languages that you can learn. Moreover, you have a good opportunity to learn this language because your neighboring location, Pondicherry, is full of French influences, and you have a lot of options available there. Not only can you learn French, but you can also become a translator, a teacher, or pursue any foreign affairs-related jobs within your area.

So, I suggest you take the opportunity to learn this language and utilize the opportunities as they come. You will also find many native speakers of this language around you in Pondicherry, offering a tremendous scope for you to improve your proficiency in the language.

While you can also consider learning Arabic, Spanish, or other languages, you will be limited to books and may not be able to communicate with anyone in your surroundings. Always remember, if there's a community associated with any language, you can find opportunities there.

Good luck!

Hi,

If you really want to learn any foreign language, then I would suggest that you better learn any of these three languages - "Spanish, French, German," and I assure you that wherever you go, you will be selected. Take my word, I'm not kidding.

Mr. Robin is right. He has listed the languages in the correct order as well. Spanish is widely spoken in many countries besides English. If you are looking to benefit, consider learning Japanese and Mandarin (Chinese).

I would suggest learning Spanish. There is a huge Spanish-speaking population in the world. Even in the USA, Hispanic people form a large chunk of the population. Learning Chinese or Japanese would also provide you with business opportunities in translation. Our nation is increasing business dealings with these two countries.
