I am a student of PGDM (HR) in my second year and looking for a job in the next 6 months. I want to know what type of skills are required to get a job in the corporate world.

According to me, I would say the following:

1. You should have very strong domain knowledge.
2. Develop/polish your presentation and communication skills.
3. Be confident and face your interview with common sense and logic.

Dear Himani, To obtain better job opportunities in the corporate world, you need to focus on the following important points. These will aid in your personal development and enhance your prospects in the job sector.

1. Firstly, you should prepare a creative resume and cover letter that highlight your education and skills.
2. When facing an interview, it is crucial to possess both strong subject knowledge and practical skills to effectively respond to the interviewer's questions. This will demonstrate your proficiency in hard skills.
3. Your soft skills should be such that they attract the interviewer towards you, paving the way for your success.
4. Avoid delving too deeply into personal details during the interview as it may distract the interviewer. Instead, give a concise PowerPoint presentation about yourself.
5. Language, posture, and gestures are also important for interview success.
6. During Group Discussions (GD), present logical and practical points to effectively discuss the topic.
7. Always maintain confidence and make proper eye contact with the interviewer while responding. Your physical presence can leave a strong impression on the interviewer.
8. If you are unsure of an answer, politely admit your lack of knowledge. Avoid diverting or providing inappropriate responses, as the interviewer may be an expert in the field, leading to confusion in the selection process.

Best wishes for a successful job search.

Thanks & Best Regards, Vikas Ranjan
