Good one. Thanks for sharing. But, sorry to say that this system is not used in Indian industries. The hydrant system is totally opposite to what is mentioned. The presentation you have shared is used abroad, like in the US or UK, and this hydrant system is used in city limits to provide water for fire engines during emergencies. I have not come across such a system in India. Many cities use hydrants with sluice valves for dealing with city hydrants, and a hydrant key is used for operating them.

In industries, we never have a dry barrel system except for dry risers. All the headers must have a mandatory wet system only. The topic is too lengthy to explain in this forum. But looking at the positive side - if you have come across such a system in India, please let me know as I would definitely like to visit the city.

Neeraj

It was really a great input from your side on this topic and thread. If you have any presentation on the Hydrant System, which is mostly used in India, please share it with us. Thanks and keep up the good work.

It is very nice to inform you that in Tamil Nadu, as per the Inspector of Factories, the latest amendment requires every factory to install fire hydrant systems.

Dear Neeraj, as you said, this type of hydrant system is mostly used in European countries only. I had seen the same type of hydrant in Chennai in front of NIFE (Fire & Safety) College (Chetpet branch, EGA Theater Street). If you visit Chennai, don't forget to visit CHETPET. Thanks for your participation in this thread. Keep in touch...
