Can I Serve a 15-Day Notice and Buy Out the Rest? Urgent Help Needed!

Manisha_Manu
Hi All, I submitted my resignation on the 2nd of August. As per company policy, I am required to serve a 30-day notice period, but we also have the option to buy out this notice period. I am wondering if it is possible to serve only a 15-day notice period and buy out the remaining 15 days with the same salary. Your prompt response to this query would be greatly appreciated as this matter is urgent.

Referring to your appointment conditions, I don't think any employer would mention a buyout clause for such a short period - 30 days.

If you could please give me clarity on the subject "notice period buyout" and how it works?

Buyout is paying money equivalent to the salary of the notice period instead of serving the notice period, and it is applicable to both employers and employees.

You can definitely do that. Mention in your resignation letter, "I request you to relieve me at the close of working hours on 10/08/2011 (date)." Let management decide if they want to deduct 15 days' salary in lieu of the notice period. Remember, they can deduct 15 days of basic pay only.
