Exploring Best HR Practices and Employee Recognition Programs

punnapadmini
Dear All,

I am working for one of the ITES companies as an HR Generalist, but I would like to know what the best practices of HR are that are practiced in other top ITES companies. I would appreciate it if anyone could provide me with these details. I have been searching the internet for this information but have not found any productive information available. Your input would be highly valued.

Thank you

Dear friend,

The good HR practices or benefits are adopted in various Indian/Multinational companies, some elaboration is given below:

- Flexi-working hours
- Performance-linked incentives
- Job/role rotation
- Employee/Performer of the month at a department/organizational level. For instance, McDonald's has "housekeeping performer of the month," "crew member of the month," and "supervisor of the month," etc.
- Domestic trips for good performances
- Celebrating birthdays and marriage anniversaries, with employees personally wished by a senior member of the organization
- Celebrating festivals in the organization
- Creating a personal touch among employees
- Offering competitive salaries
- Providing washing/attendance allowance (in the case of plants or factories)
- Resolving small to the smallest issues of the employees promptly
- Organizing a picnic, get-together, or annual function, etc.
- The idea of having an internal employee magazine may be good.

Warm regards,

Hi Umesh,

Thanks a ton, dude, for helping me out. I really appreciate it. However, these are the things which we are already doing. I wanted to know different practices implemented in top companies so that we can compare and take a look at where we stand company-wise.

Dear Umeshji,

Thank you for sharing the practices. If I may add a few:

1. Felicitating employees who may have completed 5, 10, etc. years (Long Service awards).
2. Annual Sports Day.
3. Felicitation program for children of employees who have stood 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the annual exam.

Hi,

You may also have the following good HR Practices:

1. Giving loans to employees (alternatively, you may retain them through this).
2. Giving choice pay options to new employees so they may decide their balance pay themselves once the basic is fixed for them.
3. More than 5 years working is already governed by the Gratuity Act; the employee will be getting 15 days' pay for every one year of working.
4. You may nominate some deserving employees for any important workshop or training which might be useful for both.
5. Farewells to employees whenever they leave.
6. You may also provide maternity leave (to women) of 6-12 weeks (when they are not covered in ESIC) and paternity leave of 15 days to men.
7. Giving certificates to employees for resolving any critical problems/issues.

I hope this will help you guys.

Warm regards,

Hi dear,

Whatever our friends are telling, exactly when all these things are combined in the organization, it results in the BEST HR PRACTICES in the organization. But it needs the contribution of each employee.

I am doing my summer internship from Sona Koyo, Gurgaon. It has the BEST HR PRACTICES you can search on the internet.

Hi,

You can also introduce a Scholarship Policy wherein a good performer gets to take an academic course as a reward. In these cases, distance learning courses are recommended, but you can make a decision as per your company's requirements.

I may also add:

It's similar to the staff of the month. In addition to that, you can appreciate employees. You can either give an appreciation letter, or if it's teamwork, an appreciation letter for the team members can be posted on the notice board.

Thanks.
