Feeling Stuck in My HR Role Due to Office Politics – How Should I Navigate This?

Meenu27
Dear Friends,

This is a practical case study which is happening with me..

I would like to take your views on following issues. Please give me your suggestion what I have to do ??/

Right know my boss offered me a new role of trainer in which I have to do traveling all over India, to give the Level 1 training of the employees as currently I am handling payroll and HR admin management in the organization but I am not quite satisfied about my profile because of lack of learning in the same as my main areas of interest are recruitment and performance management. Because of some family issue I have to reject there proposals, in that case, they clearly conveyed me they will not promote me further in monetary terms or in individuals growth wise. In a very rude language my boss boss's has conveyed this message to me, as my bosses are politically corrupt bosses; they don't want my growth because of their own insecurities. They have just eye washed our big boss,, just misusing him. Could you please advise, what steps I have to take in this case.

I am also looking for opportunities, but they are not coming because of my bad time

The boss is very bad, big boss is unable to understand me, he only hears them only. Please advice, I am in trouble.

best regards,

Meenu

Dear Meenu,

First thing to remove from your mind: there is no bad time or good time. We ourselves must try to seize opportunities at any time.

Don't panic or get frustrated.

Your problem is a little serious and you are being unfairly treated by your boss and the higher-ups.

At this stage, remain calm and composed; listen to everything that is being told to you.

Since you were unable to take the opportunity to travel across the country due to household issues, my suggestion is to continue with your current profile. Enjoy what you do, but also focus on your interests. Remember, there is no such thing as a low or small job in this world. What matters is how passionately we do it.

I recommend continuing with your current profile and expanding your responsibilities by showing your involvement in recruitment and performance management. Initially, act as a coordinator with your boss. Once you gain their confidence, they will surely assign you this role.

In the early stages of my career, I handled payroll for 900 employees and managed PF and ESIC annual returns. However, my focus was on industrial relations and HR. Gradually, I showcased my areas of interest and began coordinating these activities, all while my current profile remained unchanged. After some years, I was relieved of my previous responsibilities and took on a higher position.

If things are not progressing as desired, discreetly explore better job opportunities without informing anyone, and then consider making a move. Ultimately, our career advancement is crucial.

Hi Meenu,

I can understand your situation. My suggestion is that you should focus on the job at hand. Please continue to do well in your present assignment. At the same time, try to explore possibilities for you to take over assignments in your preferred work area. Also, you must continue to learn more about recruitment and performance management systems to enhance your knowledge that could prove beneficial in the future.

Give some more time for the current situation to improve. If the scenario does not change for the better, you need to look for career advancement opportunities somewhere else which match your aspirations. The key for you to overcome this situation is to maintain a positive and balanced outlook.

Hi, Bhushan/Ashwini
I understand it very well, even I tried to implement this practically but failed to do so, I am so much depressed at this moment, simply because of lack of satisfaction. My mind always thinks where would my future, I have no career, If I continue with this, I have no future outside the this organization, I wanna worth enough to judge my existing profile market value.
I wanna analyze and increase my market potential.
I will focus whatever you suggest, but sometimes these things makes me so depressed, I feel like just quit, don't want to work anymore………….
Lets hope everything be in order in future.

Dear Ashwini,

Please don't worry, things will improve in the future. Be patient for some time. Whatever job you have, love your job. Don't get depressed. If you feel depressed all the time, I suggest practicing Dhyan Yoga in the morning or evening. It will help you feel fresh all the time.

Regards,
Bhushan

Hello Meenu, Your case is a typical situation of an organization that wants to have short-term gains to aim big. This is good, but unless all the people concerned are taken into confidence by the boss, there is bound to be some friction or conflict between your goals and organizational goals. My experience says that you need to circumvent your present interests and concentrate on the job at hand. This will increase your employability status. Since life is a full circle, I am sure that your bosses are going to recognize your worth and reward you in the final analysis. So have patience, persevere, and maintain purity in your thoughts and deeds. Always seek Almighty's blessings. Best of luck.
