Returning to IT After a Career Break: How Can I Boost My Chances of Getting Hired?

nehas123
Hello, I had taken a break due to personal reasons with 9 years of IT experience as a Project Manager. I am B.E. (Electronics) and PMP certified. I have worked with Tier 1 companies. After a 1-year break, I started with freelancing work and have worked on assignments for 1.5 years. Now, I would like to get back to full-time employment.

I have started applying through job portals; however, I have been unable to get interview calls so far. I am very keen on getting back to IT. Your guidance would be most appreciated regarding resuming my career. Would a correspondence MBA add value to my profile?

I think an MBA degree will definitely fast-track your career. You should opt for that.

Correspondence MBA: Is It Worth It?

Correspondence MBA is useful in cases where you are already working for a company, and the only thing standing between you and the next promotion is an MBA certification. For a new job, however, you will be competing with those who have done a full-time MBA, in which case the odds are stacked against you.

Strategies for Returning to the Industry

If you are serious about getting back into the industry, don't wait for responses through a job portal. Statistically, job portals are the worst since only a fraction of members get jobs. You need to send your resume directly to companies and keep in touch with your buddies in the industry to notify you whenever there is an opening. In other words, networking is the best way to get the top jobs, which almost never get advertised. Also, your buddies might get a bonus for referring you if you get hired.

All the best,

Please email your resume to me at: [Email Removed For Privacy Reasons]. However, considering your current situation, I would suggest keeping yourself mentally open regarding the CTC. The primary focus should be on getting the restart as soon as possible.
