Understanding Leave Policies: Should Absences Around Weekly Offs Count as Three Days?

Zenara_HRD
Dear All, please let me know if any employee takes a leave before the weekly off or after the weekly off, can we consider a total of three days as leave or only two days as leave? Some senior people say that if an employee doesn't come before or after the weekly off, then they say it should be considered as 3 days of leave.

Please suggest to me which is the correct interpretation as per the law.

It all depends on your company's leave policy. Many companies in India follow this practice. However, if the leave is approved by your HOD, it cannot be considered as three days.

Thank you.

Hi Friends, it would be really kind if you could help me solve my doubt. As per my company's leave policy, if any employee takes a leave on or before any holiday and remains absent on the day before or after the holiday, it will be considered as being absent for three days. For example, if the 5th of October is a holiday and an employee applies for leave on the 4th and remains absent on the 6th of October as well, it will be counted as absent for the 4th, 5th, and 6th of October, and their salary will be deducted accordingly.

To my knowledge, the 26th of January, 1st of May, 15th of August, and 2nd of October are compulsory holidays. So, in the case of the above-mentioned policy, if an employee violates this policy during these four days, will the same rule be applied?
