Is a Pregnant Employee on Probation Eligible for ESIC Maternity Benefits and Paid Leave?

mamviv
Hi, actually, I want to know if a woman who joined my company in March 2011 but worked on a contract basis for 3 months until June is eligible for maternity benefits under ESIC. She has now applied to be on the payroll, and as per our policy, we have put her on a 3-month probation. However, she is pregnant, and her due date is in November. She holds an ESIC card from her previous company and intends to renew the same card as it is valid for 6 months. She also wants to know if she will be paid for the 3-month leave. Thank you.

In order to be eligible for maternity benefits, the insured person must work for at least 84 days before commencing maternity leave. As she joined in July and intends to apply for maternity leave in November, she will have worked for more than 84 days by then, making her entitled to this leave.
