Dear aspirants for PhD in Business Management
Your desire to do PhD even though you are from different backgrounds (one from Mech Engg.,HRM etc) is laudable, I want to provide you the realistic picture.
Recognized guides in Business Management in Indian Universities and B-Schools are not very large in number. Those who are recognized cannot take more than 5 - 6 full time research scholars and may be 5 part time scholars. These guides are besieged by many prospective candidates from MCom, MBA, Engineering and Public Administration. First you should contact a prospective guide and know his availability.
There are some universities, which have a pool of National Guides (like Bharatiyar university, Coimbatore). You can look at the list and see if someone is available for you.
Till you get a guide, please initiate efforts at (i) recognizing a research area; (ii) doing some preliminary literature review; (iii) learning some tools of quantitative and qualitative research; (iv) collecting published papers in your research area; (v) attending conferences or seminars and trying to get in touch with professors or prospective guides.
Wishing you great research journey ahead
