Dear All, Please advise me on whether the following reimbursements are taxable or not:

1. Telephone Reimbursement
2. Driver Salary
3. Fuel & Maintenance Reimbursement
4. Books & Periodical Reimbursement
5. Uniform Reimbursement

Additionally, please inform me if these reimbursements contribute to obtaining Income Tax exemptions. Kindly provide details on the maximum limits as well.

Regards, Amol

If you are an employee and you are incurring this expenditure on behalf of the employer at their instruction, and it is necessary for the job, and it is paid to you based on actual expenditure, then it would be non-taxable.

If this is a facility provided to you, meaning if you benefit from the expenditure, then it would be taxable as per the income tax slab.

Dear Amol, there is no prescribed limit for reimbursement, but it varies depending on the reason for the payment and the organization's policies. Nevertheless, I would suggest you consult a Chartered Accountant for the same, as these documents need to be cross-checked with the policies to avoid any anomalies.

Regards,
Hardik
