I was working with a local magazine as an Assistant Editor with a salary of $12,000. My employers did not give me any appointment letter; however, I was a consultant on paper with the employers. My salary was given to me by cheque, and I even have Form 16 and bank statements from the employers.
My employers did not pay part of my salary from May to October and the full salary for November and December. I gave notice on December 1, 2010, and joined a new company on January 1, 2011. I sent my resignation through email. I also reminded my employers and visited the office for the payments, but they did not clear them. I even have a Gmail chat with my employers where they acknowledged the payments, saying, "Yes, I know about the payments; I will get it cleared soon."
What should I do? Please guide.
