Can My Friend Withdraw His PF After Leaving a Job in Just 3 Months? How to Do It?

piyushnkumar
Hi seniors, One of my friends has left his job after 3 months. His company was deducting the PF contribution from his salary. Can he withdraw his PF contribution? If yes, then what is the procedure, and which form does he have to fill up? Please suggest. He was working in the Delhi branch of a Mumbai-based company.

Thanks and regards,

He can do two things: 1. withdraw the amount, or 2. transfer the amount to the PF account of the new company (if he has joined somewhere). He can withdraw the PF amount by filling out forms 10C and 19.

Thank you.

Dear Piyush, Jyoti Singh is correct. If he wants to withdraw his PF, he only needs to fill out one form, which is Form-19. Since his service is less than 180 days, there is no need to fill out Form 10C. In my opinion, he should transfer his amount to his current PF account if he is working in another company, as he may not receive a portion of his share otherwise.

Thank you.

Thanks for the help. Can you upload Form 10C and 19? Where does he have to submit these forms, and is his previous boss's signature required?

He can only get back his contribution. The employer's contribution will not be given to him as he has not completed a minimum of 6 months.

Thank you, Jyoti and Yogesh, sirs. Please tell me where he has to submit these forms, and is his previous boss's signature required? Can he claim the amount only after two months of leaving the organization, as mentioned in paragraph 69 of the EPF scheme? He also does not have a salary slip and EPF account number. Please guide me.

On the Withdrawal form, the employer's HR Manager/Authorized signature is required, and they will enclose form 3A (which includes the PF Account number) with the withdrawal form. The form should be submitted directly to the PF office nearest to your location. Once the form is submitted, he/she must obtain an acknowledgment, and we can check the status online after 45 days.

Dear Piyush Ji,

I would suggest that you recommend your friend not to close this PF account but to continue it whenever he takes up another job. That will give him full benefits of employer contribution, pension fund, etc. Please consider this option. If he has already opened another account in the new firm, please tell him to get it merged with the old account and continue only the previous account.

Thanks & regards,

I have absconded from my company and now want to withdraw my PF amount. However, the employer does not agree. Is there any other way I could withdraw my PF?

These guidelines are as per the Employee Provident Fund & MP Act-1952.

Guidelines for EPF Withdrawal

1. Once an employee completes 180 working days in any company, they can withdraw both contributions. For this, the HR section head's signature is mandatory in Form 3A.

2. If an employee's services are 180 days or more, Form 10C and Form 19 should be filled and submitted with the previous boss's signature. According to my suggestion, if you are no longer working there, it is better to transfer the EPF account to your current location. This makes it easier to carry forward and ensures you receive the applicable interest rate on the amount.

Dear Pon,

He will receive his contribution to PF and the employer's contribution to PF, but he will not receive the pension portion, i.e., 8.33% of the basic. Also, suggest to him that he attach a cancelled check with the application. Importantly, his bank account should be single; joint accounts are not allowed.

For him to receive his share of the employer contribution, he must have completed a minimum of 6 months, whereas he has only worked for 3 months. Please read the PF withdrawal rules for more clarity.

The minimum period for the withdrawal of PF is 2 months, and as your friend has already worked for 3 months, he can withdraw the PF money by submitting Form 10C and 19. You can easily download these forms from the internet and submit them to your company.
