Worried About Legal Trouble After Leaving a Job Without Settling? Here's My Situation

indreshin
Hi, I'm basically from Mumbai and joined an IT firm in Chennai. Due to some critical family problems, I had to abscond and return to my family. I have already discussed the issue with my Project Manager. Now, I am receiving a letter from the company asking for full and final settlement. Since I do not have any money and am supporting my family with the help of my parents, I am unable to pay the settlement amount. Will the company take any legal action against me, such as filing a lawsuit in court, if I do not pay? I do not possess any company assets.

The issue must have been discussed with the technical person as well as in HR, and a suitable written request in the form of resignation given. Your previous company has genuinely asked for a full and final settlement. Now, you can request them and discuss the reasons for why you were left without the information.

To comment, please provide the following information:

1. Did you serve resignation and complete the notice period?

2. Duration of employment

3. Nature of employment: full-time/part-time/permanent/contract

4. Did you sign any agreement with the company?

5. Required notice period as per your letter of appointment

6. Company size and status

Please find out the ways through polite and mutual discussions with your company. You are required to complete the full and final settlement formality.
