Transitioning from MCA to HR: Can I Grow in the Corporate World with My Background?

vasavis
Hi, one and all, I am new to this site. Actually, I have a background in MCA, but due to some personal problems, I could not start my career for 4 years. Now, I have begun my career in the HR field and am currently working as an HR Assistant in a manufacturing company.

Opportunities for Growth in HR with an MCA Background

As an MCA candidate, do I have opportunities for growth in this field? I am even considering pursuing a distance MBA. I would like to work in a corporate setting. Can you please suggest to me? I have heard that it's challenging to progress with my MCA background. Is this true?

I am eagerly waiting for your valuable suggestions and tips for my career. Thank you in advance.

Continuing to work in your current position can be a good option, especially if you enjoy the job and see potential for career growth. If you decide to stay in your current role, consider pursuing a part-time MBA with a focus on HR. Later, you could enhance your qualifications by learning SAP HR, leveraging your background in MCA and MBA to appeal to a wider range of companies.

Wishing you all the best.

There is nothing stopping you from building a career in HR. An MBA at this juncture will help enrich your knowledge in HR and hence lay a strong foundation. Being from an MCA background doesn't limit your growth. Many companies are in their transition stage and look to hire HR professionals with an IT background for automating their HR processes and implementing Human Resource Information Systems. A mix of technical and functional knowledge in HR will be a cutting edge in this modern era of HR.

I would suggest you pursue an MBA through distance learning from any reputed university and keep yourself updated with the latest IT developments or topics you have covered in MCA.

Thank you very much for all your suggestions. I am planning to pursue an MBA and also specialize in SAP HR. Things are currently in process. Recently, in some companies, they wanted candidates with an MBA background only. Because of that, I was confused and worried about my career.
