Timekeeping

HAMMERED
Hi guys,
Is it legal for HR managers not to clock in and out when coming and leaving the office? Are they required to clock in and out too? I am working in a private company. We are strictly observed/monitored with our in and out time; however, we noticed our HR manager is not using a time card either unlike us.
Also please let me know what is the ideal in and out time for an HR manager.
Thanks a lot!

Hello Hammered,
He/she should follow the normal office timings as mentioned in the HR manual or policy...in most Private companies there are 9 working hours for everyone...
If HR Manager is not leading with example, its not a right thing..there are companies where even MD/CEO also uses time card to be a part of the entire team...and its such a good practice...
Regards,
PANJIT
If hr/ir guys are seriously performing their duties, there is no prescribed timings for them, their disposal is for 24 hrs

Thank you my friends, Archna and Panjit.
Give me more please! If you could attach a file showing normal office timings as mentioned in the HR manual or policy, would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much!!!!

Hi Hammered,
HR manager is also an employee of the Company. He is not higher than anybody from and department else.
In my previous organization EVEN our CEO use to punch in and punch out every time.
Thanks

Hi All
I would like to bring in another perspective. In some companies, people in the senior management keep travelling. The management may have decided to leave the top cream out of this process. In many organizations where no travelling or site visits are involved, even the CEOs do punch in. Each organization has its own way of managing attendance. There is no law of the land that everyone should follow. Hence, Hammered, there is no dicumentation that we can show. On the contrary, you must have some documentation available, that is specific to your organization, that you can quote to your manager, insisting that he clocks in and out. Another question is, what does your CEO do? What do the heads of other departments do? THat should clear a lot of things for you.
