Is It Fair for HR Managers to Skip Clocking In and Out While We Can't?

HAMMERED
Hi guys, is it legal for HR managers not to clock in and out when coming and leaving the office? Are they required to clock in and out too? I am working in a private company. We are strictly observed and monitored with our in and out time; however, we noticed our HR manager is not using a time card like us.

Ideal In and Out Time for HR Managers

Also, please let me know what the ideal in and out time is for an HR manager.

Thanks a lot!

He/she should follow the normal office timings as mentioned in the HR manual or policy. In most private companies, there are 9 working hours for everyone.

If the HR Manager is not leading by example, it's not the right thing. There are companies where even the MD/CEO also uses a time card to be a part of the entire team, and it's such a good practice.

If HR/IR professionals are diligently performing their duties, there are no prescribed timings for them; their availability is around the clock.

An HR manager is also an employee of the company. They are not higher than anyone else from any department. In my previous organization, even our CEO used to punch in and punch out every time.

Thanks

I would like to bring in another perspective. In some companies, people in senior management keep traveling. The management may have decided to leave the top cream out of this process. In many organizations where no traveling or site visits are involved, even the CEOs punch in. Each organization has its way of managing attendance. There is no law of the land that everyone should follow. Hence, hammered, there is no documentation that we can show. On the contrary, you must have some documentation available that is specific to your organization, which you can quote to your manager, insisting that he clocks in and out.

Another question is, what does your CEO do? What do the heads of other departments do? That should clear up a lot of things for you.
