In some companies, the unavailed CLs are credited in EL account at the end of year. SL to be maintained separately. It all depends on the company policies. No hard & fast rule is available.

CL is only meant for emergencies and can not be clubed with EL and SL. Sick Leave can be availed with Earn Leaves supported with Medical Certificate.

Raman,
The previous company has to make agreement with the new company to take over the liabilities of the previous company like gratuity, PF transfer, leaves, etc as the employees are not at fault. else, they have to make settlement to the employees before merger.

At the end of the year, unavailed CL are clubbed with the EL. If the accumulation of SL is over 40 dyas, can be clubbed with the EL. However, it depends on Companies policy.
